JAMESTOWN-Jamestown fire crews investigated reports of smoke at the city’s police department Monday afternoon according to Battalion Chief Sam Salemme.
Salemme told WNYNewsNow the smoke was caused by some burning plastic that was helping with cleanup from recent flooding of the station.
Police Chief Harry Snellings told reporter Ryan Hedrick earlier Monday the department continues to have problems with leaking. Snellings blames the upstairs construction for the water.
Since the station is closed to the public police ask citizens to call 483-7536 to receive copies of police reports or for other official business.
Construction continued Monday on the upper level above the police department. Hedrick will file a report Tuesday on the continued work at City Hall.
