CHERRY CREEK – State Assemblyman Andy Goodell says the selling of the Cockaigne Ski Resort will serve as an opportunity for the resort and other similar businesses to offer seasonal jobs in the winter.

“We have a number of businesses in Chautauqua County that hire a lot of people during the summer,” Goodell said. “It’s great, (however), to have more businesses, like Cockaigne, hiring seasonal people in the winter to provide more of a continuity for those folks in that portion of the hospitality industry.”

Cockaigne was officially sold to Adam Pirtz and Issac Gratto on Wednesday. Goodell said he helped facilitate the buy.

The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency gave a $500,000 loan earlier this year, along with an estimated $300,000 in tax breaks. WNYNewsNow will have another report when available regarding the CCIDA’s part in the project.
