Senate Reaches Deal To End U.S. Government Shutdown

CNN

JAMESTOWN -With an end to the government shutdown reportedly in sight, Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello said that there’s been no impact locally from the shutdown.

“We’ll continue to move along and do business on a day-to-day basis until we’re told something different at this point,” said Borrello.

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer lent his backing to the agreement during a speech on the chamber’s floor.

”Now there is a real pathway to get a bill on the floor and through the Senate,” he said of legislation to halt any deportation efforts aimed at “Dreamers,” who were brought to the country as children and are now here illegally.

“I hope that they resolve this,” said Borrello. “The bottom line is that Our federal government needs to operate like our counties and local governments, and that’s operate on a budget.”

“They’ve (government) been operating on continuing resolutions for years now and it’s not agood way to run a business and it’s certainly not a good way to run a government,” Borrello said.
