SILVER CREEK – A hour long search on Rt. 5 near Silver Creek for a missing 2-year-old has ended.
As of 6:42 p.m. Chautauqua County Sheriff Joseph Gerace said the child was found.
Multiple fire departments were dispatched around 5:30 p.m to assist in the search effort.
Searchers were advised to prepare for muddy and wet conditions.
An amber alert was not issued in the short time frame the child was missing.
According to AmberAlert.gov a law enforcement agency must believe that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death in order to issue an alert.
There must also be enough descriptive information about the victim to assist in the recovery of the child before an alert is issued.
