Southwestern’s Season Comes To An Abrupt End


ORCHARD PARK – The Southwestern Trojans are out of the championship race after losing to the Cleveland Hill Eagles, 32-28, in the second round of the high school playoffs at New Era Field Thursday night.

The Trojans got off to a hot start taking a 13-0 lead off a passing and rushing touchdown by senior quarterback, Cole Snyder.

Cleveland Hill responded with a 55 yard touchdown run by Aaron Wahler, and a 53 yard score by Javon Thomas, to take a 14-13 halftime lead.



The Eagles extended their lead to 20-13, after Wahler rushed for his second touchdown on a 90 yard run.

Cole Snyder answered back throwing a 10 yard touchdown pass to Alex Card. Card also kicked the extra point to tie the game at 20.

Wahler ran for his third touchdown of the night from 50 yards to take a 26-20 lead, the two point conversion attempt was unsuccessful.



Southwestern re-claimed the lead 28-26, and held it to start the fourth quarter after Zishan Munir ran for a touchdown from three yards out. The Trojans converted the two points.

For Cleveland Hill, Thomas ran for his second touchdown of the night to give the Eagles a 32-28 lead, with another two point conversion being unsuccessful.

Southwestern lost a fumble on their next possession.

The Eagles recovered at the Trojans 40, but turned the ball over on downs at Southwestern’s 25.

Snyder was able to drive the ball to the Eagles 48, but turned the ball over on downs to end the game.
