ALBANY-Chautauqua County had the biggest growth in sales tax collections (12.7%) in 2016 according to a recent report from State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.
The county was one of six to grow by more than 4% in 2016 per DiNapoli. His report stated Chautauqua County’s growth was due to an increase in sales tax rate which went into effect in 2016.
Cattaraugus County, meanwhile, was reportedly one of eight counties to decline by more than 2%. DiNapoli stated distributed adjustments impacted the county.
