JAMESTOWN-Community recovery activists and law enforcement officials have warned us for months that the opiate epidemic may not have reached its peak.
911 operators dispatched two overdoses Thursday nearly two hours apart from one another in the City of Jamestown.
The first call came in shortly after 5:00 am at 11 West End near E.5th and Fairmount Sts.
Another overdose was reported at 17 Norwood Ave. around 7:30 am.
There’s no word on the condition of either victim. Generally, overdose information is hard to obtain because of the HIPAA laws ( Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996).
“Our mental health treatment is lacking here,” said Rick Huber, the Director of New Programs at The Mental Health Association of Chautauqua County.
“A big part of the drug problem is that people aren’t being treated for the mental health problems that they have,” Huber said.
