JAMESTOWN-Employees at The Connection received phone calls and emails advising them that their overnight shifts were cancelled Thursday due to an HVAC leak that sent 11 people to the hospital according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Sources told WNYNewsNow  the HVAC leak reminded them of “old hair dye.”

Fire officials left the old Furniture Mart Building at 111 W. 2nd St. around 4 PM where a leaking HVAC system forced the evacuation of hundreds of people earlier in the day.

Deputy Chief Chet Harvey told reporters a triage area was established. Thirty people were treated for various symptoms related to the leak.
