Two Arrested For DWI During Rear-Ending Of State Trooper Vehicle

BRANT-Two Gowanda natives were arrested for drunk driving Saturday morning after a vehicle rear-ended a State Trooper vehicle on Old Lake Shore Rd. per NY State Police Captain Eric Balon.

Troopers were reportedly in the process of arresting Andre Bowman, 29, Jamestown St., for DWI when John Hamm, 24, Miller St., struck Bowman’s vehicle from behind. A trooper and Bowman were inside the vehicle when Hamm struck the vehicle according to Balon.

Balon said two passengers, Jaqualine Jimmerson and Jeffrey Halftown, were outside the vehicle with another trooper. Jimmerson and Halftown both reportedly fell backwards into a ditch after they realized Hamm’s vehicle was about to strike the police car.

Bowman and Hamm were each charged with DWI, with Hamm receiving an additional charge for violating the Move Over Law.

Both passengers were treated and released from Lakeshore Hospital.
