CORFU-A local church’s youth group attended the nationally recognized Kingdom Bound Festival this past week at Darien Lake.

Levant Wesleyan Church made its annual journey to the Christian music festival, which is 31-years-old. Famous Christian groups and singers like Skillet, Newsboys and Michael W. Smith have appeared in concerts throughout the history. Numerous speakers like Nick Vujicic, the motivational speaker who has no limbs, have also appeared.

Dalton, a first time attender, said the event created a spiritual connection that he never expected.

“I was able to connect with God, something I wasn’t expecting.”

Travis Jordan, an eight-year veteran, told WNYNewsNow the event can be perceived as both an entertainment and spiritually opening event.

“I believe, for the more mature, the event has involved into more of an entertainment session,” Jordan said. “However, I still support the event because there are people who are able to connect through faith during the event.”

The youth group braved the camping scenery to enjoy what they described as a week containing a mix of entertainment and education.

Groups Casting Crowns and For King and Country will perform at next year’s festival per Kingdom Bound’s announcement Saturday evening.
