Police Community Mourns As Dunkirk Officer Is Laid To Rest

DUNKIRK-A final goodbye to a fallen hero, Dunkirk Police K9 Officer Matthew Hazelton was laid to rest Thursday after a lengthy illness. 

Police Chief  Dave Ortolano told WNYNewsNow’s Ryan Hedrick Tuesday this is the first time an active duty officer has died under his watch.

Officer Hazelton served 14 years on the force.



He was 39 years old.
