JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown woman was able to escape her burning home early Friday afternoon at 281 Willard St., with the help of an Uber driver who arrived on scene.
At about 2 p.m. Friday, city firefighters were called to the Willard Street address for a reported house fire.
The house was fully engulfed, according to WNYNewsNow‘s Justin Gould, who was on scene. Three crews from the Jamestown Fire Department, EMS, All-Star Ambulance and the city BPU responded at the conflagration scene.
Misty Freeman, an Uber driver, told WNYNewsNow she was first on the scene and tried to help the fire victim. The resident, who’s name has not yet been released, was seen being treated in an ambulance on scene.
“I saw the lady run out of her house using her phone, I assume she called 911, but I called 911 anyways,” Freeman said.
She offered the fire victim to sit in her car with her, gave her her telephone number and said she would help her anyway she could.
Firefighters were busy trying to keep the fire from spreading to a nearby neighboring home.
The fire was at the home, which is between Johnson and Chapin streets. The Willard block in that area was closed to traffic.
