JAMESTOWN – The newest hotel in Downtown Jamestown is getting ready to open its doors.

The Doubletree by Hilton Hotel at 150 W. 4th St. is scheduled to open next Thursday afternoon.

The 100,000 square foot hotel features 147 rooms, a pool, nearby parking, ball room, and a full service restaurant that General Manager Brandon Wade said is for more than just hotel guests.

“It’s a restaurant inside the hotel, but it is its own restaurant” said Wade. “Pearl City Hops Restaurant and Tavern; anybody can come have lunch and dinner, the price point is great, everything is under $30, the lunch is under $12 so we are trying to attract the local community to come back to the restaurant.”

Wade said that tourism growth in the county is one of the main reasons why the Hamister Group decided to invest in Jamestown.

He said that they were originally scheduled to open in 2018 but, because the building is older, several construction setbacks arose.

“Code back then wasn’t like the code today. The building was left empty for a while so things happen when you leave buildings empty. We wanted to do it right and when we found the issues we said we did not want to just cover them up, we wanted to fix the issues,” explained Wade. “The big issue was the swage lines and we had to replace all of those and the old walls; so pretty much everything was taken down to bare bones and that takes time.”

Wade said the event space is already set to hold a number of class reunions and weddings.

An official grand opening ceremony is set to take place the first week in March.
