WARREN – A Warren County man charged with attempted criminal homicide plead not guilty Thursday morning in Warren County Court, according to documents obtained by WNYNewsNow.

Jackson Kent Knappenberger, 25, is charged with seven counts of attempted criminal homicide, seven counts of aggravated assault, one count of arson, five counts of endangering the welfare of a child, seven counts of recklessly endangering another person and a count of retaliation.

Pennsylvania State Police report that Knappenberger confessed to lighting a plastic bag containing gas and oil on fire near a Wilson Road residence in December with two other adults and five children inside.

Knappenberger was reportedly caught a short distance from the scene barefoot and muddy. Troopers said Knappenberger lost his boots while fleeing the scene.

A settlement conference is scheduled for Mar. 18.

In a separate court case, the Sugar Grove native is charged with corruption of minors, corruption of minors (defendant age 18 or above), indecent assault of a person less than 13 and harassment (subject other to physical contact). Knappenberger was arrested in June on those charges.

According to separate documents, that case has been continued into the next trial term.

Knappenberger, in both cases, is being represented by the Warren County Public Defender’s Office. He is currently in Warren County Jail without bail.
