JAMESTOWN – A local church is hoping to bring the community together during an upcoming family night.

“We want to reach the little children, we want to reach the parents, the single moms, the single dads that are maybe struggling, that really don’t know where to turn, that need a little support, that need hope that Jesus offers,” said Ashley Streed, a member of New Hope Community Church. “I feel like Jamestown and the surrounding areas are looking for something that isn’t out there but we have it here.”

Ashley and her husband, Worship Leader, Michael Streed, during a recent interview with WNYNewsNow. explained that the community is struggling and they want their church to serve as a beacon for hope for those looking for a change.

“I think a lot of people are hurting,” explained Michael Streed. “I think a lot of people are looking for something that is not necessarily going to push them or pull them in any direction they don’t want to go but support them, and we want to be that support for the community; someplace where they can be comfortable and feel like home.”

New Hope Community Church, located at 80 City View Ave., invites the community to attend their “family night” on Fri., Mar. 15, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. to learn more about what they have to offer.

The church’s lead pastor, Pastor Gregory Streed, said his church is looking forward to meeting all sorts of families in the community and introducing them to his church family.

“We really want to reach out to families and do everything we can do to teach, train and help families feel welcomed here,” said Pastor Streed. “Specifically, right now we have one little boy in the church, Carter, and each week his grandmother teaches him a verse of scripture. Before the service, we call Carter up front and he recites that scripture.”

Pastor Streed explained that this event won’t be a typical church experience, but rather a social gathering where community members come together to help one another spiritually.

“We are going to have a night filled with tremendous music, uplifting and inspiring music, that will reach down deep inside of you and make you feel better,” said Pastor Streed.

Pastor Streed said he hopes that visitors will be able to shed burdens and feel refreshed when they leave.

“Hopefully you will be inspired, you will be uplifted no matter what burden you may be carrying,” said Pastor Streed.
