LAKEWOOD – Former Chautauqua County Legislator Nancy Barger (D) has withdrawn her name for consideration to be the Democratic candidate for the 57th State Senate District.

Barger released the following statement to WNYNewsNow Thursday afternoon:

“It’s been a pleasure to participate in the robust conversation with fellow Democrats about raising a new voice for this region. My decision shows my respect for the political process and I appreciate and am encouraged by the interest in my entering this race. I have full confidence that the Democratic perspective has excellent representatives in our community, and I stand ready to help the eventual nominee. I remain dedicated to the people of this region and I want to help elect a Democrat to the State Senate. I’m grateful for all of those who supported me as I considered running, and I know they will be ready to join me in enthusiastically campaigning to bring new representation to this district.”
