Investigation Into Chautauqua County Death Remains Ongoing One Year Later

PORTLAND – The investigation into the death of 47-year-old Brian Heyden remains ongoing exactly one year, to the day, after his body was discovered just off of Route 20 in the Town of Portland.

State Police Capt. Eric Balon told WNYNewsNow Friday that State Police are still treating Heyden’s death as a homicide, and will continue to do so unless, or until, information is provided to change the case.

Heyden’s body was discovered in a wooded area off of Route 20 last April. Buffalo Crime Stoppers said, in June, that a $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the person(s) responsible for Hayden’s homicide.

Balon encouraged anyone who has information regarding Heyden’s death is asked to call 716-665-3114.
