MAYVILLE – New York State Senate Candidate and Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello said he feels confident heading into a June Republican primary for the 57th Senate District Seat.

Borrello, who spoke with WNYNewsNow last week during his official campaign kickoff, said whoever steps forward and challenges him for the seat, Republican or Democrat, he will be ready to face them because of his record.

“One of my favorite quotes, as you know, is from Benjamin Franklin, and that is ‘well done is better than well said,’ and I can show you what I’ve done and the results that we’ve seen,” said Borrello.

Borrello said the race is not about him personally, but rather, working together with anyone who hopes to better the 57th district.

“I’ve just acted as an ‘agent’ in a way,” said Borrello. “To tell that story to others (his success as county executive) and tell people that is what I am about will separate me from whoever I am facing.”

Allegany Board of Legislators Chairman Curt Crandall challenged Borrello in March for the Republican nod. This after New York State Senator Cathy Young resigned her position to take a position outside of government.

A 22-year-old political newcomer from Freedom, New York, Austin Morgan is running on the Democrat ticket.
