LAKEWOOD – The Village of Fredonia’s water was voted best tasting in Chautauqua County during the annual water tasting contest over the weekend.

Over 100 people judged water samples from Cherry Creek, Dunkirk, Frewsburg, Jamestown and Mayville. Judges blindly tasted water from the municipalities and voted for which tasted best.

The City of Jamestown, who took first last year, came in second place.

“Judging was very close making it tough to decide which water was the best because they are all very good and therefore they are all winners,” said Bill Boria, Senior Water Resource Specialist for the Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services. “This really supports the fact that our water operators work very hard to deliver the highest quality water possible to their customers.”

Fredonia will now move on to the regional competition and compete against other county winners from Western New York.
