2019-20 School Budget Voting Results

WESTERN NEW YORK – Tuesday night votes were tasked to approve or deny school budgets and vote in new board of education members; here are the unofficial results.

Jamestown Public Schools’ $90.682,678 budget for the 2019-20 school year was approved by a vote of 367 to 70. The tax levy of $14,641,567 remained flat for this school year.

Voters in Jamestown also approved the purchase of school buses.





Board of Education candidates Joseph Pawelski and Patrick Slagle received 394 votes and 389 votes.

Southwestern Central School’s $29,207,170 budget for the 2019-20 school year was approved. The tax levy of $13,026,878 increased 1.5 percent.

The district was also given the go ahead by voters to buy two 66-passenger buses, one 60-passenger bus, one 30-passenger bus, and one six-passenger vehicles.





















Board of Education candidate Correy Miller was voted in. Residents voted to establish a $5,000,000 capital improvements reserve fund.

Residents in Falconer Central School District approved their $23,744,167. The tax levy of $7,014,497 increased .11 percent as well.

Board of Education candidates Tracy Schrader received 144 votes, Marcella Centi received 127 votes and Robert Carpenter received 111 votes.

Voters in Bemus Point approved a $15,841,689 budget with a $8,760,191 tax levy to remain flat. Voters also said yes to the district’s bus proposition. A planned capital project was also approved.









Board of Education candidates Brian Whalen and Barry Swanson were voted into office with 149 votes 201 votes, respectively. Robbert Lucas and Steven Wascher received 100 votes and 133 votes, respectively.

Brocton Residents approved the $17,107,201 budget. The tax levy totaled $4,790,457, a 1 percent increase.

Board of Education candidates received Matthew Brady received 147 votes, Neil Huber received 157 votes and Beth Jagoda received 103 votes.

Cassadaga Valley Central School District’s $24,047,251 budget was also approved. The total tax levy of $5,320,994 increased 2.94 percent.

Residents also approved the purchases of three 60-passenger school buses. Board member candidates Jeanne Oag and Michael Johnson were voted in.

Chautauqua Lake Central School District’s $23,099,112 budget passed. The total tax levy of $12,015,988 increased 2 percent.

Board of Education candidates Kenneth Shearer received 239 votes, Andrea Munsee-Wellman received 257 votes and Deborah Cross-Fuller received 193 votes.

Clymer Residents denied the $11,495,924 budget by a vote of 580 to 459 short of the super majority approval rating of 60 percent.

Residents did approve the purchase of a 65-passenger bus and related equipment.

Board of Education candidates Carole Siverling received 526 votes, Willowe Neckers received 294 votes and Jordan Wade received 65 votes.

In Dunkirk residents approved the $47,847,549 budget. The total $9,966,642 tax levy remained flat.

Board of Education candidates Robert Bankoski received 171 votes, Betsy Ramos received 171 votes and Julie Stone received 177 votes.

Forestville Central School District’s $13,153,634 budget was voted in. The $3,969,051 tax levy increased 2.31 percent.

Residents also approved the purchase of a school transportation vehicle. Board of Education candidate Mervin Fry was voted in.

The district also approved an energy performance contract.

Fredonia residents approved their $30,306,737 budget; the 16,059,354 tax levy remained flat.

Board of Education candidates Lisa Powell Fortna and Thomas Hawk received 423 votes and 384 votes.

Frewsburg Central School District residents approved the $17,775,530 school budget. The $5,543,902 tax levy increased 2.66 percent.

Board of Education candidates Randall Wiltsie received 185 votes, Polly Hanson received 181 votes and John Spacht received 181 votes. Residents also approved the purchase of buses.

District residents also approved a capital improvements project, an energy performance improvements project, and an expenditure from the capital improvements reserve fund.

Panama Central School District’s $12,904,396 budget was approved. The $3,464,980 tax levy remained flat.

Board of Education candidates Jen Daniels received 111 votes, Carrie Munsee received 100 votes and Kyle Rhoades received 94 votes.

Pine Valley Central School District’s $17,140,656 budget was voted in also. The $3,343,147 tax levy remained flat.

Board of Education candidates Lawrence Zollinger received 227 votes, Joshua Howard received 226 votes, Terry Howe received 188 votes, James Fisher received 105 votes, Angelo Graziano received 133 votes, Patricia Krenzer received 162 votes, Rose Kruszka received 179 votes and Gerald Clapp received 211 votes.

The community approved a board of education student representative.

Ripley residents approved the $9,399,854 budget and increased the $1,888,023 tax levy 1.43 percent.

Board of Education candidates Peter Dorman received 222 votes, Paul McCutcheon received 219 votes and Michael Boll received 169 votes.

Sherman Central School District’s $10,419,630 budget was approved. The $2,655,011 tax levy increased 1.90 percent.

Residents also gave the okay to purchase two vehicles.

Board of Education candidates Brian Bates received 116 votes and Joe DeLellis received 111 votes. Bates was elected to a five-year term.

Residents approved Silver Creek Central School District’s $24,845,381 budget and increased the $6,338,716 tax levy by 2.42 percent.

Board of Education candidates Matthew Bogosian received 269 votes and Stephen Boothe received 227 votes. A vehicle was also purchased.

Westfield Central School District and Westfield Academy’s $16,470,518 budget was approved with tax levy remining flat.

Board of Education candidates Karan Foti received 221 votes, Thomas Tarpley received 317 votes and Wendy Dyment received 453.
