Calming Down This Afternoon And Tomorrow; Another Chance For Strong Storms Saturday

JAMESTOWN – After an active morning with a broken line of showers and thunderstorms moving through the Southern Tier between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., things will begin to quiet down a bit as we work throughout the afternoon.

The National Weather Service has CANCELED the Severe Thunderstorm Watch for all of Western New York earlier this afternoon. The overall chance for severe activity for the remainder of today is rather limited.

A Cold front will move through the region tonight, clearing us out with mostly sunny skies and lowering the humidity for Friday.

On Saturday, there is a Slight Risk (level 2 out of 5) for severe thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and evening. The overall setup is looking is looking similar to what we just went through this morning.

Temperatures will rise back into the upper 70’s with humidity values creeping back up again. That humidity, along with early morning sunshine, will likely be the fuel to make these storms pop in the afternoon

The main timing window for this activity will be between 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday and within any storm that flairs, they could become severe with damaging winds and large hail.

There could be a few lingering showers and storms and Sunday but the majority of the day will be dry. Memorial Day not looking bad with partly sunny skies and temps in the lower 70’s. We return to the mid to upper 70’s mid next week with limited chances.
