WASHINGTON – Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello (R) took a stand against wind turbines Tuesday during a leadership conference at the White House.

Borrello, posting on social media, met with senior Trump administration officials during the Northeast Leadership Conference to talk about federal programs and initiative available to local governments.

The panel also discussed community revitalization and ways to improve infrastructure in the modern world.

Meeting with Larry Kudlow, President Trump’s Chief Economic Advisor and head of the United States National Economic Council, Borrello lobbied to end federal production tax credits.

The credits, according to Borrello, are responsible for green energy projects and waste taxpayer money.

“These tax credits are the reason we have the gigantic industrial wind turbines plaguing our region and damaging the environment and our quality of life while wasting billions of taxpayer dollars,” posted Borrello. “Mr. Kudlow also views it in the same way and I am hopeful for a major change in policy next year that will end this horrible program.”

In recent years residents in Northern Chautauqua County have voiced their displeasure with the introduction of several multi-million dollar wind turbine projects.

Most recently, residents in Villenova protested the Ball Hill Wind project that was approved by the Town Board last year.

  1. Thank you for doing this. We are being plagued also nearshore with transmission cables and offshore with cables and turbines risking the destruction of our US fishing grounds and destruction of our NY and Eastern Seaboard fishing communities at the hands of foreign government owned energy companies stealing our EEZ out from under us without any mitigation or compensation, risking our very ocean food sources. You don’t destroy your national food security in the name of energy production.
Anything to stop the PTC is a good thing. Thank you.
