JAMESTOWN – As summer heats up, the Democrat candidate for City of Jamestown Mayor is trying to reach out to voters in a unique way.

Eddie Sundquist says every Saturday in the month of August, his campaign will host community block parties around the city with the hope of speaking to residents he normally would not see.

Sundquist said he received a lot of good feedback from the first party held last weekend.

“We had one in Ward II, which was last Saturday. We had just over 50 people show up,” said Sundquist. “We got feedback about what’s going on with streets being re-done and the neighborhoods.”

Sundquist said the fall election is a very important turning point for the city.

The candidate believes the two largest issues the city faces is an aging housing stock that needs renovation and improving the landscape of jobs within the area.
