Mostly Sunny This Afternoon, Widespread Rain Arrives Tuesday

JAMESTOWN – After a rather nice start to the workweek with lots of sunshine, rain increases overnight and into Tuesday with some moderate to heavy downpours possible at times.

Mostly sunny conditions will take us through the afternoon today with only a small chance of an isolated shower across the inland Southern Tier. The Lake Erie shoreline will remain dry with lots of sun. Highs 78 on the higher hills to 83 near the waterfront.

Through the early evening tonight. A few showers are possible with maybe a rumble or two of thunder. The more widespread rain starts to tick up in intensity throughout the overnight after midnight. It will be a rather mild and muggy night with morning lows dipping back into the mid to upper 60’s.

With a wave of Low pressure and an associated front, the most widespread rain will be on Tuesday, tapering to a few showers Tuesday night and Wednesday. Temperatures will feel more fall-like with highs in the lower 70’s both days.

Model guidance suggests most areas around the Southern Tier and Northwestern Pennsylvania will see around a quarter of an inch to a half inch worth of rainfall. Some totals may reach upwards of one inch, depending on where the heaviest amounts of the rain happens to set up.

We’ll see the return of some summer-like warmth and humidity by the weekend with highs on both Saturday and Sunday in lower to mid 80’s and humidity values back into the muggy category once again. As of right now, m the weekend is looking nice and dry with lots of sun.
