WARREN – Pennsylvania State Police are reminding drivers to slow down and pay close attention as schools across the state return to session.
Troopers say students will be walking to and from school and bus stops, and school buses will be loading and unloading students.
They ask drivers to pay attention to the yellow and red flashing lights on school buses as the vehicle stops to load or unload.
Motorists can be fined $250 for improperly meeting or overtaking a school bus. Additionally, a conviction will result in a 60-day driver’s license suspension and an assessment of five points on an operator’s driving record, police said.
Police also ask students to be mindful of bus drivers directions and to be sure to look left, then right, then left again before proceeding across a street.
