Showers And Thunderstorms Arrive Tonight With A Summer Time Feel

JAMESTOWN – After a dry and warm afternoon, showers and storms will develop from west to east across the area this evening with the potential that a couple could pack a punch.

NOAA Storm Prediction Center has outlined the far western portion of the Southern Tier and Northwest Pennsylvania under a low-end Marginal Risk (level 1/5) for severe thunderstorms through this evening. Should any storms become strong to severe, the main threat will be from gusty winds.

Newer computer modeling has pushed the arrival time of the storms back. Now, it appears those storms will not get here until the evening hours tonight. Below is a snapshot of the in-house high resolution model showing storms not popping until around 10 p.m. tonight.

These storms will linger throughout the night with a few leftover showers possible for the morning hours on Thursday, otherwise coming partly sunny for the afternoon with highs in the lower 70’s.

The weekend is looking nice and dry with a good supply of sun each day and temps in the 70’s. A warming trend will return early next week as we make a run at 80 once again next Tuesday.
