WASHINGTON – Congressman Tom Reed discussed a trip to Poland he took earlier this week to discuss U.S. and Poland business investment in a release Thursday.

“Western New York has a rich Polish heritage, and we were proud to meet with the Polish Prime Minister and President about important national security and domestic issues,” Reed said. “Poland also recently agreed to purchase F-35 fighter jets – with many of the parts made right in Owego, New York. This partnership is not only good news for our local manufacturing base, but also for the safety and security of the Polish people.”

Reed said Poland is one of only seven NATO Allies that currently meets the commitment to spend at least two percent of their gross domestic product on defense.

Reed applauded Poland’s recently signed $33 billion in contracts with U.S. firms for delivery of natural gas to the region as part of their commitment to wean themselves off of Russian energy.

Both Corning Inc. and Borg Warner have invested in operations in Poland
