Amish Girl Flown To Hospital Following Morning Crash

CONEWANGO – A 10-year-old Amish girl was flown to Oishei Children’s Hospital following a crash with a truck Friday morning on Route 83 near Conewango.

New York State Police say the girl, along with six other occupants, were traveling north in a Subaru Outback when they collided with a commercial truck.





Police said two children were sitting in the hatch back, three in the back seat and two up front.

Troopers said so far, investigation revealed the truck hit the Subaru from behind.

A seven and nine year old amish boy and girl were taken to Brooks Hospital with minor injuries.





















The 10-year-old has a broken leg and possible internal injuries.

Police said the driver of the truck, Dewane Penhollow, of Jamestown, was taken to UPMC Chautauqua Hospital with a minor injury to his leg.

The truck went off the right side of the road and overturned on its side.

The driver of the Subaru, Richard Bowen, of Randolph, was not hurt.









New York State Police’s commercial vehicle enforcement unit is on scene to do a full inspection of the truck.
