Lots Of Clouds Through The Day; Very Brief Warmup Later This Week

JAMESTOWN – The cloud cover will be stubborn to clear out this afternoon with a couple spotty light rain or snow showers possible. We will begin a short-lived warmup on Tuesday leading to possibly the first average or above average day so far this month before temps fall once again for the weekend.

While the majority of the day will be dry, there is small 25 to 30 percent chance, of a very spotty rain or snow shower across the Southern Tier this afternoon. Otherwise, expect lots of clouds with highs 35 to 44.

A northeastern coastal storm riding up into the New England could provide the possibility of a couple rain or snow showers overnight that could freeze as it hits the ground. The overall chance for precipitation is once again, rather small, but should there be any freezing precipitation, the ice accretion will be very minor.

With that said, the very light glazing could be enough to cause some slick roadways in areas where the roads are untreated for the Tuesday morning commute. Any freezing rain will change over to a few spotty rain or snow showers with highs 37 to 47.

With a shift the wind pattern and an approaching Cold cold, temps will spike into the mid to upper 40’s for Wednesday and Thursday, bring us back to near there averages for this time of the year. There is a chance we could hit 50 on Thursday before the front moves through.

The advancing front will spawn scattered to widespread rain showers throughout the day on Thursday, mixing with snow by the evening as there front filters in colder air.

Temps will fall into the mid 40’s once again on Friday after the passage of that front, even down into the upper 30’s for both Saturday and Sunday with a small chance for a rain or snow shower.
