Randolph Schools Go Into Lock Out Following Fatal Fire, Search For Suspect

RANDOLPH – The Randolph Central School District went into a lock out Thursday morning out of a abundance of caution in relation to a fatal fire in Allegany County.

School officials say a lock out means all staff and students remain inside; all outside doors are locked and classes continue as usual for the day.

Additionally, all students and staff used the main entrance to each building to enter and exit the building.





Furthermore, awareness and security was present at the main entrances.

The district took the action after consultation with the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office in connected with the fatal fire.

The Portville, Bolivar-Richburg and Cuba-Rushford school districts closed out of a precaution.





















Officials said at no time was there any direct or even implied threat to the campus or students.

New York State Police are looking for a teen in connection with the fire.

Troopers say William J. Larson Jr., 17, of Clarksville, is wanted for questioning.









Police said he was identified on scene while the fire was being extinguished and left the location prior to state police arriving.

Larson is 5′ 09″ with brown hair and blue eyes.

Two bodies were found in the home at 8472 Courtney Hallow early Thursday morning.
