JAMESTOWN – Winds gusting up to 60 mph are expected this weekend as mild spring like temperatures give Jamestown a break from old man winter.

Saturday’s high temperature is expected to reach 62 degrees, feeling more like mid-April than January.

Saturday will also be breezy, with a south wind 17 to 23 mph.

Sunday the area will see even more wind, as a High Wind Warning goes into effect at 4 a.m. when winds from the southwest will range from 25 to 40 mph in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties.

Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines, leading to scattered power outages.

Minor property damage is possible and travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Shallow rooted trees could be uprooted due to the very wet ground from snow melt and rain showers.

A Flood Watch runs through Sunday as heavy rain falling on saturated ground will likely result in excessive runoff. This may result in flooding of low lying areas and urban areas. Flooding is also possible on some larger rivers as well.

Temperatures will then fall from the low 60s Saturday to the mid 30s by Sunday evening.
