Weather Remains Quiet Today, A Stiff Breeze Returns Tomorrow Afternoon

JAMESTOWN – An area of High pressure over the northeast will equate out to rather quiet afternoon. However, the winds will be coming right back into play once again on Tuesday with possibly some true winter-time air coming in next week.

Through the rest of the day, we’ll call it mostly cloudy with some peak of sunshine at times. Highs will range 37 to 46 with southwest wind 6-15 MPH.

Those dry conditions will continue into tonight with lows 25 to 33 and a light wind.

As that High pressure scoots out to the east, there will be the chance for a couple widely scattered showers tomorrow afternoon. The chance of anyone seeing a shower is about 40 percent with some partial sun from time to time. Another mild January date with highs 43 to 51.

The winds will also come right back up through the day as well. While the winds will not be anywhere to the magnitude they were early Sunday morning, do expect some gusts 30 to 40 MPH at times.

We’ll squeeze out another dry on Wednesday with a little bit more in the sunshine department to go around. Highs in the lower 40’s.

We will reintroduce the chance for some lake squalls on Thursday with the temps coming down to around average for this time of the year, lower 30’s. There will also be a healthy breeze once again in the afternoon.

Looking down the road, a big pattern shift will likely occur over the weekend and extending into next week. This could allow some true winter-time air into sink further southward into the region. Highs Sunday will only reach the lower 20’s.

In regards to precipitation, that will have to be monitored throughout the week as we get closer. While accumulating snow does indeed seem possible at this time with a potential storm system, it is way too early to throw out numbers and to pinpoint where the heaviest snow could be.
