Lake Snow Flakes End Tonight, Better And Warmer Weekend Ahead

JAMESTOWN – Lake effect snow flakes continue to fly in patches across the Southern Tier this afternoon. It will stay cold through the day before High pressure returns to bring us a nice warmup going into the weekend.

The lake snow showers will be limited and quite light in nature through the afternoon. Any accumulation will also be very minor in nature; less than a half inch in most spots however, it will still be cold. Highs 17 to 22.

Lake snow will come to an end early this evening with partly to mostly cloudy skies overnight. It will be quite chilly tonight with lows ranging from 1 in the valleys to 20 near the Lake Erie shoreline. Some spots in the deepest valleys may actually dip back into the upper single digits by the morning hours.

Even though we will see plentiful sunshine tomorrow, with the north to northwest wind continuing, we will likely stay in the upper 20’s to the lower 30’s in spots.

A shift in the weather pattern alone with High pressure building in will warm us back up into the lower 40’s both Saturday and Sunday with a great supply of sunshine.

We will have to keep our eyes on another storm system early next week which might though us some mixed precipitation through Wednesday.
