JAMESTOWN – A surface boundary stationed over the area has become the focal point for some rain and wet snow showers this afternoon. Weak high pressure returns tomorrow before another storm scoots by mid week.

Some spots along the higher elevations of the Southern Tier have seen a light coating of the white stuff as temperatures have been below freezing much of the morning. A transition to all rain will continue west to east through the day. Highs will rage 37 on the hills to 46 near the Lake Erie shoreline.

Rain showers will come to an end this evening leading to mostly cloudy to complete overcast for the overnight as a weak area of high pressure begins to build back into the region. Lows 30 valleys, 35 lakeshore. Light winds.

Morning clouds on Tuesday will clear out for the afternoon with partly to mostly to mostly skies for a good portion of the afternoon. It will be milder as well with a more southerly wind. Highs 44 to 50.

Based on current guidance, a storm system will track just to our south through Pennsylvania on Wednesday and with its close proximity, we will be scrapped by the edges of the storm.

While we’re thinking the majority of the precipitation should be all rain, there does remain a potential window for some wet snow showers Wednesday morning and early afternoon. Highs in the lower 40’s.

We will retain a chance for rain showers throughout the rest of the week into the weekend with temperatures back into the lower 50’s for most spots around the area.
