JAMESTOWN – Over 100,000 taxpayers in Western New York have not yet filed their 2019 income tax returns ahead of the extended July 15 deadline.
The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance says more than 50 percent of filers across the region are due a refund of more than $870 on average.
The state is now reminding New York Residents of its free filing options.
The Department says the online program allows New Yorkers to save preparation fees, avoid costly errors, and ensure that they receive any refund they are owed in the most efficient way possible.
More than 210,000 taxpayers have already filed their returns through the Free File program this year, saving these taxpayers an estimated $43.2 million in tax preparation fees, the department says.
