MAYVILLE — A convicted sex offender was charged after allegedly not reporting a new social media account to authorities.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says Michael Partyka, 60, of Forestville, was charged with failure to register under the state correction’s law.

Deputies received a report Partyka was allegedly using a Facebook account to communicate with the caller.

As a level 3 registered sex offender Partyka is required by law to report all social media accounts to police.

According to the New York State Sex Offender Registry Partyka was convicted in 1996 of indecent liberties with a 10-year-old girl.

Partyka was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court on a later date.
