FREDONIA – A weeklong boil water order in the Village of Fredonia is continuing.

The Chautauqua County Department of Health re-assessed the water on Thursday and report quality is improving, however, the order will remain in place.

Residents are asked to boil water for common activities like drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation.

Bottled water is being distributed on Saturday and Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Fredonia Department of Public Works at 176 Eagle St.

The order first went into effect last week following a routine check for cloudiness. Workers determined that the water may have disease-causing organisms and declared a public health emergency.

Those with questions or concerns are asked to contact the Chautauqua County Health Department at 716-753-4481 or the Village of Fredonia at 716-679-2307.
