JAMESTOWN – The wet and gloomy days will continue throughout early this week before a brief return to some drier weather heads our way for mid week.

A boundary stationed just to our west has been the focal point for some scattered showers from time to time. Those showers will continue in spotty nature on Tuesday before we dry out for one day on Wednesday.

A spotty shower will be possible this evening becoming better in coverage overnight. Lows 35 in the valleys, 43 at the Lake Erie shoreline.

While tomorrow will be a mainly cloudy to overcast day, there could be a spotty shower or two throughout the day as a weak band of lake effect rain develops off the southeastern end of Lake Erie. Highs 41 to 49.

We’ll see a brief return of quiet weather on Wednesday as a weak area of high pressure slides into the Ohio River Valley. Sun and clouds will battle for the sky with highs in the lower 50’s.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Zeta will interact with a storm system moving in from the midwest on Thursday. This will increase the rain chances across the Southern Tier with some potentially moderate rainfall times. Highs in the lower 50’s.

We’re keeping our eyes on Thursday night through Friday as cooler air is pushed in behind the storm system which may change the rain showers into periods of wet snow throughout the morning hours on Friday. While very early in the game to say for sure, any minor accumulation at this point will stay well north of our area into the Tug Hill region east of Lake Ontario.

Any snow will change back to plain rain showers for the afternoon on Friday. Quite cold. Highs in the lower 40’s.

High pressure will return into the region for the weekend giving us a good supply of sunshine each day but still remanding cool with high in the lower 50’s.
