JAMESTOWN – This weekend will be a tossup with a lot of clouds to start on Saturday, finishing with rain and snow showers on Sunday while temperatures come down below average once again.

High pressure has slid off the northeast coast which will allow a storm system with an impending cold front to move through over the weekend. This system will bring a return to cooler air with a wintry mix likely through early next week.

Partly to mostly cloudy skies will take us through the night tonight while becoming a bit cooler. Lows 36 in the valleys, 44 at the Lake Erie shoreline.

While the clouds will win out the day on Saturday, we will not rule out the chance for some peeks of sunshine to poke through at times. Much cooler with near steady temperatures. Highs 38 to 48.

If you were in tuned with the forecast earlier in the week, we had hinted at the possibility to be back up in the lower 50’s again come Sunday with the next storm system which would accompany a warm front. However, newer guidance shows that warm front being gobbled up by impending colder air before it reaches Western New York.

This change in the forecast means Sunday will be a rather messy and chilly day with rain and snow showers likely throughout the day. Highs 39 to 46.

We’ll keep the wintry mix going into Monday while still remaining chilly. Highs only in the upper 30’s.

We should dry out on Tuesday with a good supply of sunshine. Highs in the lower 40’s.

Rain showers will return to the region on Wednesday with highs in the mid 40’s.

Thanksgiving Day is trending mainly dry as of right now with temperatures near that 50-degree mark once again.
