18-year-old Charged With Attempted Robbery Of Jamestown Dollar General

JAMESTOWN – An 18-year-old is facing charges in connection with the attempted robbery of a Dollar General store in Jamestown.

Jamestown Police say Lester L. Santiago, a Buffalo resident, was taken into custody without incident at the store on Winsor Street just before 9:30 Wednesday morning.

Officers say Santiago walked into the store and told the clerk he had a gun and that he wanted the register opened.

The clerk, police say, was able to signal another employee in the store who called 911.

Responding officers did not find a weapon on Santiago and say a gun was never displayed.

He was taken to city jail and held for arraignment on attempted robbery charges.

Police say the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit also responded the scene.
