ATLANTA — One of baseball’s premier players and home run king “Hammerin’ Hank”, Henry Aaron has died at age 86, according to several news agencies and his daughter.
Aaron, who played for the Braves and Brewers, was an ambassador for baseball and for minority causes within the sport.
He retired as the all-time home run king with 755 long ball blasts and was voted into baseball’s Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
Aaron spent many years post-retirement in speaking to youth and combating racism in and out of sports.
He once said moving to Atlanta from Milwaukee woke him up to the plight of minorities.
