JAMETOWN – A city man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into the old Bank of Jamestown building on the corner of North Main and East Second Streets on Saturday evening.

Jamestown Police say 31-year-old Robert Yates was allegedly observed crawling in the building through a window at 202 N. Main St.

Officers arrived on scene and say they observed Yates walking through the lobby area.


Police say at one point during the search for the suspect Yates was spotted on the roof of the building.

He was eventually taken into custody and charged with third-degree burglary and petit larceny.

Jamestown Police Officers were assisted by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Bentley and his partner.
