JAMESTOWN – Leaders in Jamestown are looking for the public’s feedback about a program that allows food trucks to operate throughout the city.
The Executive Assistance to Jamestown Mayor Eddie Sundquist says a series of meetings will take place starting next week to hear from local businesses and the public about the Food Truck PILOT Program.
The program was approved by the city council last year, giving food trucks and other mobile cuisine vendors more flexibility to operate within the city limits.
The trucks would have to set up at least 125 feet away from an existing brick-and-mortar restaurant unless that restaurant was owned by the same proprietor.
Additionally, the trucks need to buy a license to operate, $150 for Jamestown-based vendors and $300 for out-of-city vendors.
If a permit is granted, the trucks can operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with special permission for late night operation granted via a special permit.
