JAMESTOWN – The late Jamestown City Councilwoman Victoria James was laid to rest on Wednesday.

A private family funeral service took place at Emmanuel Baptist Church.

The councilwoman’s daughter says James passed away peacefully following what is believed to be a heart attack last week.

The 62-year-old’s death was very sudden and shocking to many, but most of all to her family who recently lost their grandmother as well.

James spent more than a decade serving the residents of Jamestown in both city and county government.

She is survived by her husband, two children, six grandchildren and three sisters.

Memorials may be made to the Vickye James Fund, c/o Lake Shore Savings Bank.
