One Dead, Another Seriously Injured In Cattaraugus County Plane Crash

GREAT VALLEY – One person died during a small plane crash in Cattaraugus County on Wednesday afternoon.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff Timothy Whitcomb tells the Olean Times Herald that an eyewitness observed the plane having trouble taking off moments before it came crashing down near the Great Valley Airport.

The Sheriff telling the newspaper one man, who has not been identified, died and another was seriously injured.





He says the victim was airlifted to a Buffalo area hospital with burns to his face and hands.

It is unclear how many people were on the plan at the time of the crash.

The airstrip is located near Route 219 in Great Valley just south of Salamanca.
