JAMESTOWN – Officers with the Jamestown Police Department made a special visit congratulating a local youth whose cancer is in remission.
Officers Johanson and Swan took time while patrolling the city last week to visit with Michael, who just received news that his cancer is in remission.
The officers let the young resident sit in the driver’s seat of their squad car and even taught him how to trigger the siren. As the siren kicked in, Michael’s face lit up with joy.
The department also shared photos of the officers posing with Michael. One photo shows him wearing a police vest with a radio.
Back in September, the youth received a diagnosis of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. However, after undergoing months of treatment, his cancer is now in clinical remission.
Even while battling the disease, his mother says the fifth grader maintained honor roll.
Police also shared photos of the officers posing with Michael. One photo shows him wearing a police utility vest with a radio.
