JAMESTOWN – A retired north county police chief has been named Jamestown Public Schools next safety officer.
The district announced Monday that former Village of Fredonia Police Chief Brad Meyers is taking on the role.
Among his duties, Meyers will plan, develop, implement and monitor the district’s safety procedures. Additionally, officials say he will supervise the safety officers, known as the “Red Shirts,” in the district.
Meyers will also conduct workshops with staff, students and families about important safety issues. That includes consultation and assistance for safety needs like drills, inspections and crisis response plans.
He has over 35 years’ experience in law enforcement as the Police Chief of Fredonia and as a Sergeant and police officer with Jamestown Police. Meyers retired from law enforcement in 2021.
