ERIE (Erie News Now) – Pennsylvania’s northern counties are quickly approaching peak foliage after last week’s cold nights, but above-average temperatures and humidity this week are expected to slow the change in leaves in much of the state.

Fall foliage sightseers should travel north of U.S. Route 80 to see the best colors in Pennsylvania.

The district manager in Cornplanter State Forest District (Warren, Erie counties) said warm, sunny days and noticeably cooler nights have triggered the fall colors in northwestern Pennsylvania.

While yellow was the early dominant color, more reds, oranges, and golds are appearing across the landscape, producing an abundance of color.
