Average Price Of Gas In U.S. Jumps Nearly 6 Cents In Last 2 Weeks

JAMESTOWN – The average price of gas in the United States has jumped nearly six cents in the last two weeks.

This increase is bigger than any since last spring. It is a result of a price hike in crude oil.

On average, Americans are paying more than a dollar more at the pump than one year ago.

Now that businesses have picked up, OPEC has increased production, but it lags behind the increase in need, and that is forcing prices up.

Other factors are at play, too. Natural gas prices have also soared, forcing many to switch back to oil products, especially in Europe.

Paying more for a trip to the pump could be the new normal for a while.
