JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown Police Officer credited with saving a baby earlier this year will be honored during next week’s holiday parade.

Jamestown Police Officer Jakki Martin-Ahlbin responded to an unresponsive and not breathing eleven-day-old back on September 19.

The department says Martin-Ahlbin immediately began performing CPR on the baby until members of the Jamestown Fire Department arrived to transport the child to the hospital.

“There is no doubt that PO Martin-Ahlbin’s actions were live-saving,” the department wrote in a post online. “Her actions not only reflect positively on the Jamestown Police Department, but also speak volumes on her personal character and dedication to service.”

Martin-Ahlbin recently received a Certificate of Commendation from Lieutenant Piazza.

Additionally, she will be honored, alongside Officer Mark Conklin, as the co-grand marshals during next Saturday’s parade.

The parade is scheduled to kickoff on Saturday, December 4 at 6 p.m. along Third Street in Downtown Jamestown.
